YALIKAVAK, TURKEY griff@bluewaterbay.co.uk Contact: Market Days in the area Tuesday – BODRUM – food and clothing Wednesday – GUMUSLUK and ORTAKENT Thursday – BODRUM – food and YALIKAVAK – food and clothing Friday – BODRUM – food – and BITEZ Saturday – TURGUTREIS – food, clothing, fabrics, bedding & much more! Sunday – MUMCULAR and GUMBET   YALIKAVAK Mustis Steak House – Run by Brenda from Ireland and her Turkish husband Musti.  Fantastic steaks.  Great atmosphere.   Location – They have had to move premises for the 2011 season as the landlord of the previous premises saw that they  were very busy and decided to open up a restaurant there himself.  They are now located on the “coast road” leading from  the village back to Bluewater Bay on the left hand side almost opposite the Childrens play area.  Sadly not right on the  beach as their previous location but still wonderful views.  Morgul Antik – Run by Sue from England and her Turkish husband Ibrahim.  Very friendly atmosphere.  Large and  varied menu.  Excellent food.  Recent refurbishment now includes inside eating for cooler evenings and a garden at the  rear complete with toys for smaller children.  Location – not on the beach front.  Set back one street.  At the beginning of  the covered shops area.  Look out for the Lilac table cloths.  Kosede – Run by Ephram.  Lovely friendly restaurant.  Great menu.  Location – on the corner, just off the mini  roundabout at the opposite end of the covered shops to Morgul Antik.  GUMUSLUK  Leleg –  On the harbour front.  Lovely food but we felt small portions. Gonucelen – On the road from Gumusluk to Bodrum.  On your left hand side.  Previously run by Ken and Jim from  Ireland but not sure who runs it now.  Not been since the new owners took over. Tendolap – This is our favorite restaurant. It is a beautiful stone built restaurant up in the hills beyond Gumusluk.   It  is run by Fatos and her husband.  Both Turkish with only a limited undersanding of English. Travel along the main road  from Gumusluk towards Bodrum/Turgetries until you come to a mini roundabout.  Turn left at that mini roundabout and  head up hill.  On your left hand side you will come to a dirt track with a sign for the Tendolap Restaurant and  Apartments.  Follow the dirt track as far as you can go.  The restaurant has lovely Turkish food and a spectacular view.   Perhaps one to try for lunch or during the afternoon daylight first  Booking is recommended for the evening as the  restaurant is small.   I believe Sunday Brunch is very popular to. We have been for lunch and only had the Mezes but had  3 courses over a long period during the evening.  The meal can be as show and relaxed or as hurried as you wish.  A  beautiful authentic restaurant.  If you are worried about finding the restaurant they do have their own Dolmus and would  pick you up from the car park in Gumusluk. Website is : www.teldolaprestaurant.com  Limon – On the road from Yalikavak to Gumusluk on your left hand side.   Tried this restaurant ourselves in May 2010.   Sadly we were disappointed.  Beautiful location but had very little on the menu and very expensive.  GERIS  Panorama Pasanda – Beautiful location but again we were disappointed with the food.  We do, however, know of many people who have enjoyed the food there.  Well worth a trip for a drink for the views alone. Local Restaurants There are local markets on in the area throughout the week, make sure you have plenty of change with you.
